Casal do Ramilo Colares Ramisco 2019Colares is the smallest wine appellation in the world and Ramilo is one of about four people making it, the only one who is organic. The vines are basically planted on the beach on the Atlantic coast, they have to dig ten feet deep into the sand to reach soild earth for the vines, and each vine is surrounded by craters of sand to protect them from the harsh winds. This makes for some of the most singular and amazing wines in the world, not to mention

long-time organically-certified estate is the last of its kind

so what you will find here is a full bodied

and refreshing

yet I also am pleased to find they withstand a level of scrutiny that separates them from lots of natural wine that is later to the party

In this case the red grape Trincadeiralas is blended with Fernao Pires (aka Maria Gomes)

This wine really captures the aesthetic of all Preisinger's wines: lithe

It reminds me of the savory

It's somehow serene and elegant

named after a small tributary of the tremendous Po River

Great served slightly chilled

20 ppm SO2 was added at barrel to mitigate the risk of brettanomyces in the wine cellar (brett loves cider)
