Wallend Farm Langdale by William Heaton Cooper R.I. (1903 - 1995)With its two ancient yew trees that are so typical of Lakeland farmhouses, Wallend Farm sits at the foot of The Band beneath Bowfell. Here painted in winter, the artist has made good use of dry brush technique in depicting the snowy tops of the fells. The nearby Wall End Barn was a popular overnight stop over for many impecunious well known climbers in the 1950's; such as Joe Brown, Pete Greenwood, Dennis Gray and 'Slim' Sorrell.
