but you can get a tight look by using your elastic band first and then pop the scrunchie over it

but it uses a much more generous amount of fabric compared to mass-market scrunchies

The scrunched effect is beautiful but if you prefer the smooth/ironed look you can always use a bit of steam (from a hot iron or steamer) to bring it back to the original shape
