HL Leonard Model 51DF Tournament bamboo rod 9' 3/2 #6For sale here is a H. L. Leonard, pre fire Model 51 (or 51DF) Tournament bamboo rod. Nine feet in length. Three sections with two tips. The rod weighs 4 7 8 oz. I'd recommend a six weight double taper line. Ferrule sizes 17 64 and 11 64. Very good original condition. All sections are full length. Good ferrule fit. Agate tip tops and stripping guide. Nickel silver cap and ring over butternut spacer. The original ferrule plugs are still present. Both

The hinges are brass with the three screw configuration

This is a fast but full flexing action

Other features include my "pot belly"style ferrules (oxidized) and olive wraps (including signature wraps)

Black painted aluminum tube with brass capped collar and bottom

A slight bend in the foot and a few spots of corrosion are the only faults

The reel embodies all of the quality and simple elegance of the vintage H

Some varnish chips on the butt have been inexpertly filled in
