Shepherd's MatThursday, March 19th 5pm 8pm Turn fleece into something timeless. In this class, youll learn how to create a durable, heirloom quality braided matt using unspun wool roving. Well explore how different sheep breeds fibers behave in the braiding process, how to prepare and join roving, and how to form and finish a matt that celebrates the natural beauty of wool. Each participant will leave with the beginnings of their own Shepherds matt and the skills

What can you do with it

Worksheets will be provided to calculate as required to create the best sweater possible

you will learn about the structure of brioche fabric to help demystify the fixing process and give you the confidence to tackle whatever mistakes you encounter in the future

Learn the basics of 2-d needle felting while creating your own original landscape

Learn the basics of wet felting – hot water

Identifying the right/wrong side of the reed

scouring (where we’ll talk about lanolin)

we ARE batty for batts–and we think you will be as well
