Ernest was the son of the master reelmaker William Henry Dingley and carried on the fine reelmaking tradition from the 1920s, ultimately running the shop after WWII and his father's passing. This item comes with provenance details directly from Ernest's son, Raymond Dingley, along with Raymond's signature. The box has the Wheatley diamond logo and measures 3 1 2" x 2 1

This is the 7th rod Jeff built in 1998 according to the 1198-7 serial number on the butt section

I've seen a few 3 inch models the last few years

The rod weighs 4 1/2 oz

The original ivorine handle is nice but it does not spin freely and needs to be loosened up
