medieval poulainesThis type of medieval boot was worn from the second part of the 13th century. During the 15th century, these boots became so popular that the debated poulaine laws were introduced in 1450. These laws regulated the length of the poulaines and the degree of curvature of the nose. In 1463, it became prohibited in Edward IV's England for citizens, knights, squires and noblemen to wear poulaines with a nose longer than 2 inches. The boots may be fastened
