Mark Canfield "Phillips Usual" Fly Rod 7'4" 2/2 #4A nice Mark Canfield (Red Willow & Co.) fly rod, 7'4", 2 piece, 2 tip, built for a #4 line. "The Phillips Usual" model. Serial #467. Used but very good condition. A very fast progressive action. 4. 1 oz. A very well made rod with no seams, super varnish, and straight as a pin. 3 up node pattern with a heavy oven temper rendering the nodes dark and an overall cane color reminiscent of Phillipson. The wraps are copper color with orange and black jasper

The end cap has a brass plaque hand engraved with a light scroll work treatment and "Spinoza Rod Co serial #12

The varnish over one of the wraps on the butt section shows some age/minor cracking but the guide remains firmly attached and the thread is still firmly wrapped underneath
