Description
Charlton 8550C Bonefish SpoolA like new Bonefish spare spool for a Charlton 8550C fly reel. Right hand retrieve. Designed to hold a WF8F & 270yds of 20# backing. As always with Charltons the spool is expertly machined and is finished in black type III anodizing. Comes with original blue cordura pouch.
Nice condition mechanically with no overly-objectionable wobble or spool/spindle play
The reel has a few very minor handling marks
Chestnut brown wraps over medium-dark tempered cane
Mark graciously sold me a vintage-appropriate brass-capped aluminum tube although it's not a Garrison tube
Smooth brass foot that appears to have been very neatly thinned on one end
complete with serial number 3904
The check system is like that of Hardy's 1912 check with handsome strap-over tensioner adjustment
Butter-colored
George 3 3/8 inch fly reel with three-screw latch from the 1930's
landing something like 60 salmon on that rod
Nice steelhead salmon size reel here with plenty of capacity and drag to handle big fish
At around only 30 rods said to have been built
