R.I.P. (wood print | green on yellow orange background)Not every death is explained. My idea for this piece was as much about drawing a bunch of pebbles and tree bark as it was about drawing a skeleton. Ive always liked drawing skulls and skeletons but most of the time Ive drawn them in art classes as studies or practice for other drawings. To me a charging rhinoceros is one of the coolest things in nature unless you’re on the receiving end of their horn

So I added a kind of antique wallpaper pattern to a sunburst of melaleuca tree bark

Manatee and all that he can eat

So I decided to make this piece a distinctly Florida turtle

It was too much fun and helped me develop my process

All wood prints are printed on birch finishing plywood and come ready to hang

and alien at the same time

I combined African and Australian tribal patterns for the background to help accentuate the origin mythology
